JONESBORO (AP) — City officials in Jonesboro are considering cutting the city’s public transit system by more than 50 percent beginning in early January.

Jonesboro Economical Transportation System coordinator Steve Ewart says reducing the number of routes is the only way to stay afloat as the city struggles with declining revenue.

If enacted, the proposed cuts would eliminate all Saturday service and service around the Jonesboro Industrial Park-Craighead Technology Park.
