Few new details were available today in the aftermath of a homicide near Emerson that was reported Friday afternoon, or in the robbery of the Summit Bank branch on the U.S. 79-82 bypass that happened a few hours later.

No arrest has been announced in the apparent beating death of Donnie Joe Waller, 73. His body was found along a trail near his home east of Emerson about noon by a man checking on a deer-hunting stand.

Funeral arrangements for Waller will be announced by Lewis Funeral Home.
