MARMADUKE (AP) — Former mayor Byron Phillips, who resigned recently after being told he was the target of a criminal investigation, now faces drug and theft charges, a state police investigator says.

Sgt. Scott Pillow says Phillips was arrested last week. State police Lt. Rick Dickinson said in a statement that Phillips was arrested on two counts of suspicion of delivery of a controlled substance, two counts of suspicion or breaking or entering, one count of suspicion of felony theft and two counts of suspicion of misdemeanor theft.
