Funds won’t be coming
EL DORADO – A grant to help prevent HIV-AIDS in minority communities will not be coming to the area after all. Dr. Youmasu J. Siewe, director of public health education at the UAMS Area Health Education Centers in South Arkansas, wrote a proposal to the Arkansas Minority Health Commission that landed a grant of $36,337. The money was slated for outreach work in Union and Ouachita counties, with an emphasis on minority communities in the area, where HIV-AIDS rates are the highest.
