Local law enforcement officers received several reports this weekend of burglaries. thefts, and break-ins.

Deputy Scotty Young of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to Walton Short’s hunting camp located on Columbia Road 23 in Emerson. He spoke with a woman who reported that someone had cut the lock from a gate. The suspect stole several items.

A witness who had been watching the property said that he had been in the area at about 7 p.m. Thursday and the gate was locked. The discovery was made at about 2 p.m. Friday.
