The Waldo City Council has appointed council member Margie Standoak to the position of mayor.

Standoak was formally appointed Monday night during the council’s first regular meeting since the death of the late mayor, Rodney Williams.

Council members voted 2-1 to appoint Standoak for the position which she will occupy until December 2010.

Members voting for Standoak included Bobby Young and Lynsandra Curry while Pecola Copeland voted against her. Two other council members, Ricky Lambert and Kenneth Young, abstained from the vote.
