Bill discourages alcohol hosts
LITTLE ROCK (AP) — A House committee has advanced a bill that makes it a crime for someone to knowingly let someone under 21 consume alcohol on their property.
The House Rules Committee on Wednesday advanced the measure by Rep. Fred Allen on a voice vote. His bill makes “social hosts” subject to criminal charges if they knowingly allow someone under 21 to consume alcohol. The measure exempts owners of rental property and doesn’t apply if the owner isn’t at home during the incident — for example, if a teen throws a party while his or her parents are out of town, the pare...
