Duane William McGuire, 67, of McNeil, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at Magnolia Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 23, 1945 in Paw Paw, Mich., to the late David and Jane (Palmer) McGuire.

He attended attended Hartford High School.  He was a veteran, serving with the SeaBees in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He was a master millwright for Brox Industries in Lawton, Okla., and Brown and Root in Red Rock, and was a member of the 4 States Iron Munchers Blacksmith Association.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Webber of Hartford, Mich.; and Rita’s daughter, MargRyn Kinard Schomburg.

Duane is survived by his wife, Rita Kinard McGuire of McNeil; two daughters, Theresa Byard of McNeil and Stacia Powers and husband Robert of Lawton; a grandson, Cody Byard of Arlington, Texas; a granddaughter, Starsha Powers of Lawton;  two great-grandchildren, Kenneth Hutchinson and Ethan Wykoff,  both of Lawton; and two nieces, Crystal and Vanessa of Michigan. Duane is also survived by Rita’s family, her son, Lewis Kinard and wife Dawn of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Adam Kinard of Dallas and Brittany Kinard Jones and husband Daniel of Austin, Texas; her sisters, Sarah Roberts of Arkadelphia, Eloise Steele Ellis of Austin, and Carol Thomas of West Memphis; and a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Daniel officiating, with a visitation with the family following the service.

Memorials may be made to South Arkansas Youth Services, Columbia County Animal Protection Society, or Asbury United Methodist Church.
