A Magnolia man was arrested this morning and charged with residential burglary and aggravated assault following an incident Saturday at a home on Couch Street. According to Lt. Todd Dew, a detective with the Magnolia Police Department, Rico Rose, 23, of Magnolia, is currently in the Columbia County Justice and Detention Center with $10,000 bond.

Dew stated that Rose is currently on parole, and the probation department has placed a parole hold on him as well.

According to Dew, Rose allegedly showed up Saturday at a residence on Couch Street and got into an altercation with a female friend. He reportedly choked her multiple times, then forced his way into the residence and continued the attack. Evidence gained from the investigation led to a warrant being issued for Rose’s arrest.

•Destiny Johnson, 22, of Magnolia, was arrested Monday on a warrant from Miller County.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office reports the following activity:

•Denise Carroll, 26, of Magnolia, was charged with failure to comply with court order. Bond was set at $923.50 and the next available court date will be given.

•Charles Sneed, 35, of Waldo, was charged with misdemeanor failure to appear. Bond was set at $372 and his court date will be Aug. 27.

•Ples Johnson, 54, of Waldo, was charged with misdemeanor failure to appear. Bond was set at $2,710 and his court date will be July 9.
