The average retail price for a gallon of gasoline in Arkansas decreased 2.7 cents in the past week to $3.24 per gallon. The national average decreased 1.6 cents in the past week to $3.49 per gallon.

Prices in Arkansas are 18.6 cents lower than one month ago and 35.4 cents lower than a year ago. Nationally, prices are 13.3 cents lower than one month ago and 32.2 cents lower than a year ago.

The downward trend in fuel prices at the pump appears to be slowing, meaning the trend of seasonally lower prices may be ending soon. Though the national average is still down 1.6 cents in the last week, several locations have seen increases. More increases are expected as supplies tighten due to the beginning of the summer driving season. The beginning of the Atlantic hurricane season in June could also cause the shutdown of refineries, leading to additional spikes in prices across the country.
