The average retail price for a gallon of gasoline in Arkansas decreased 3.2 cents in the past week to $3.42 per gallon. The national average decreased 1.9 cents in the past week to $3.61 per gallon.

Prices in Arkansas are 16.2 cents lower than one month ago and 33.2 cents lower than a year ago. Nationally, prices are 10.3 cents lower than one month ago and 28.1 cents lower than a year ago.

For the first time in 10 years, gasoline prices were lower at the end of March than they are at the beginning. Average gasoline prices are still below analysts' forecasts, with no expected rise in the future.

However, refineries continue their maintenance schedules and the process of switching over to more expensive summer gasoline blends, meaning any mishaps could send prices rising.
