The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrest:
•Dextrick French, 33, of Emerson, was arrested Tuesday for possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver. Officers were patrolling on U.S. 79 when they observed French’s vehicle cross the center line. A deputy initiated a traffic stop and noticed that the subject was fidgety and putting his hands in and out of his pockets. When searched, a controlled substance was allegedly found in his pockets along with drug paraphernalia. The subject was also cited for DWI. He is awaiting first appearance.
The Magnolia Police Department announces the following arrests:
•Tracy Grant, 28, of Magnolia, was arrested Thursday for second degree forgery, theft of property (debit-credit card), and fraudulent use of a credit card. The incidents occurred at Wal-Mart, where gift cards were stolen and used to buy items and money-gram checks. Some of the items were returned for cash, and the money-gram checks were cashed.
•Broderick Colvin, 24, of Magnolia, was arrested Tuesday for second degree forgery after cashing a forged check at a local bank that had been taken from a business.
•Deandre Johnson, 22, of Magnolia, was arrested on Friday for second degree forgery. He attempted to cash a forged check at a local bank, but bank personnel knew the owner of the check, and that Johnson wasn't authorized on the account. When questioned by bank employees, the subject fled the scene, but was apprehended by officers. Another check was also found in his possession. The incident is still under investigation, and other charges are pending.
•Jamal Kelley, 23, of Magnolia, was arrested on Thursday for driving on a suspended driver’s license. He was also cited for no proof of insurance and disturbing the peace.
•Jennifer Pickering, 42, of Magnolia, and Phunsha Brock, 27, of Stephens, were arrested Wednesday for obstruction of government operations. Both subjects gave officers false information during a traffic stop.
•Bryan Russell, 39, of Magnolia, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, fraud, drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, and possession of marijuana.
