Hampton “Hamp“ Grissom, 90, of Magnolia, passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at his home. He was born June 28, 1922, in Magnolia to Sears and Ida Mae Daniels Grissom.

He was a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Magnolia. He was a concrete finisher, and loved fishing and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Billy Ray and Sid Grissom; one sister, Betty Sue Grissom Johnson; one daughter, Mary Jeanette Grissom; and one son, Troy Hampton Grissom.

Survivors include three sons, Rev. Troy Lee Grissom of Decatur, Ill., Curtis Gilbert of Magnolia, and Wesley Grissom of Little Rock; three daughters, Joyce Meaux of Aurora, Colo., Annie Gean Grissom of Barstow, Calif., and Karen Grissom of Texarkana, Texas; one sister, Mary Barrow of Magnolia; two brothers, J.C. Grissom of Stamps and A.C. Grissom of Magnolia; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and host of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were to be at 11 a.m. today at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Magnolia, with Rev. James Fred Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.
