The Magnolia Water Department and the Magnolia Fire Department will be performing flow rate tests this week on fire hydrants throughout the city.

According to a news release from Magnolia Utilities, some customers may experience low water pressure and/or discolored water during these tests. Water crews will work to reduce any discolored water that may develop during these tests.

Customers are being asked to reduce water usage during the daytime hours to reduce the chances of pulling in any discolored water.

Fire Chief Greg Pinner said that the tests are routine, and pressure tests are required as one aspect of the upcoming ISO fire rating.

“It’s just one part of the puzzle that has to be put together in order to receive a rating from the agency,” he said.

Any customers having discolored water after 3 p.m. are urged to call the water office at (870) 234-2022 to report it.
