Josh Dansby, 100, of Junction City, La., died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at his home in Junction City. Mr. Dansby was born March 24, 1912, in Homer, La., the son of the late James "Jim" and the late Jessie (McClendon) Dansby.

He served in the Army during World War II from June 27, 1942, to Oct. 26, 1945. He served as a deacon in his church, New Mt. Union Baptist. Until retirement, he was self-employed in lawn maintenance.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Moore Dansby.

He is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Dansby Hill of Junction City; two sons, Josh Dansby Jr. of Fresno, Calif., and Jerry W. Dansby of Junction City; 17 grandchidren, 11 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Elmer and Clois Dansby of Fresno and Albert Dansby of Los Angeles, Calif.; and one sister, Dollister Gordon of Fresno.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m Sunday, Oct. 14, at New Mt. Union Baptist Church, 431 N. Pine, Junction City, with Rev. Doug Marsh officiating. Burial will follow in Community Cemetery on Hwy. 167 in Junction City, under the direction of Henderson’s Funeral Service of Magnolia.

Visitation will be from 12 noon-5 p.m. today at the funeral home, and from 1:30 p.m. until time of service on Sunday at New Mt. Union Baptist Church in Junction City.
