The average retail price for a gallon of gasoline in Arkansas decreased 3.5 cents in the past week to $3.58 per gallon. The national average decreased 2.4 cents to $3.79 per gallon.

Prices in Arkansas are 5.6 cents lower than one month ago and 29.8 cents higher than a year ago. Nationally, prices are 0.8 cents lower than one month ago and 33.2 cents higher than a year ago.

Petroleum analysts say the typical seasonal downward trend at the gas pump as cooler temperatures arrive has not been seen so far this fall. The relatively small drop in gasoline prices hasn't satisfied most motorists, and despite earlier forecasts, no major relief is seen in the near future.
