There was a good crowd at the Donald W. Reynolds Campus and Community Center at Southern Arkansas University last night for the 4th U.S. Congressional District debate, with Foundation Hall filled to capacity before the event began. Overflow seating was utilized in Grand Hall  across the lobby. Magnolia is lucky to have the facilities and resources to host such an event. The event was also streamed live on the Internet.


Caller says she, "understands the situation facing the student and family in Stephens" after a family made the decision to remove their daughter from the Stephens School District over  recent incidents the family says happened at the school. "My child faced similar problems in Nevada County schools, so we came to Magnolia and haven't had any issues at all. They'll see they made the right decision," she added.

The Magnolia Panthers face Camden Fairview tonight at 7 p.m. in Magnolia. The Southern Arkansas University Muleriders will face Harding University tomorrow at Memorial Stadium in El Dorado for the Boomtown Classic. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 in advance, and $7 at the gate.


The last day to register to vote for this year's general election is Tuesday, October 9. The normal deadline would be Sunday, October 7. However, because of this and the Columbus Day holiday the following Monday, the date has been pushed back to Tuesday. Voter registration applications may be picked up at the Columbia County Courthouse or printed online from the Arkansas Secretary of State website at:
