William Andrew “Bill” Humphrey, 77, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, in Tyler, Texas. He was born Nov. 15, 1934, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to the late Vernon and Gertrude Humphrey.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and a retired command sergeant major with the United States Army. He was an educator for over 30 years, and officiated high school and college baseball for 30-plus years. He also played professional baseball with the Cardinal Organization.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Judy Humphrey of Hawkins, Texas; two sons, Mark Humphrey and Tim Humphrey, both of California; two daughters, Cindy Humphrey of San Diego, Calif., and Lori Launius of Little Rock; and five grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. today at Beaty Funeral Home in Hawkins.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Beaty Funeral Home in Hawkins with Rev. Brad Crawford officiating.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association in his name or Christie’s Chapel Cemetery Fund.
