Gladys Young, 92, of Waldo, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Magnolia Regional Medical Center.

She was born April 14, 1920, in Waldo to Caleb and Savnaah Mixon-Chambers. She was a member of the Cottonbelt Church of God In Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Young Sr.;  two sons, one foster son, four sisters, and five brothers.

Survivors include seven children, Herman Young Jr, Velma R. Cole, Truman Young, Doris Young Lindsey and Elizabeth Young Sticklin, all of Waldo, Phyllis Young Snowden of Houston, Texas, and Thermon Young Sr. of Boling Brook, Ill.; one brother,  Lonnie Chambers of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Versie Chambers of Waldo; 47 grandchildren, 116 great grandchildren, 29 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Cotton Belt Church of God in Christ in Waldo, with Supt. James Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery in Waldo, under the direction of A.O. Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.
