The Arkansas Forestry Commission says 46 fires burned 513 acres in the state during the weekend, reports the Associated Press. The largest was in Clark County where 255 acres were burned. It’s believed to have started when dry grass touched the hot catalytic converter of a vehicle. No injuries have been reported.
The commission said in a news release Monday that its fire crews have now fought 306 fires that burned 2,879 acres since Aug. 1. Burn bans are in effect in 56 Arkansas counties.
