The Southern Arkansas University women’s basketball program has announced the dates for this summer’s girls’ camps.
The 10th annual rookie basketball camp is scheduled for Monday-Wednesday, June 11-13, and will be held at Central Baptist Church, located at 207 West Union St. in Magnolia. The camp will be split into two sessions each of the three days. The first session each day is for both boys and girls entering kindergarten through 2nd grade and will meet from noon to 2 p.m. The second session is for girls entering grades 3-6 and will meet from 2-4 p.m. All campers will receive instruction in ball-handling, lay-ups, free throws, passing and defense. The cost of the camp is $65 per participant.
The 42nd annual junior and senior high girl’s basketball camp is set for Sunday-Wednesday, June 17-20, at SAU’s W.T. Watson Athletic Center. Girls entering grades 6-12 and meeting eligibility requirements set by the Arkansas Activities Association are eligible to participate. Fundamental work, contests and scrimmage games will be organized according to campers’ grade level. The camp will provide individual instruction in fundamental phases of basketball including defense, rebounding, shooting, ball-handling and passing.
The cost of the camp for overnight residential campers is $245 per participant, and the day-camper’s fee is $180 per participant. No meals are furnished to day-campers.
Check-in time for the camp on Sunday, June 17, is 5-6 p.m. at Bussey Hall, with activities slated to start at 6:30 p.m. Check-out time will be that Wednesday at approximately 3 p.m.
