Southern Arkansas University wins GAC Tournament

It took two full games and two extra innings, but Southern Arkansas University was finally able to overcome Ouachita Baptist University to win the Great American Conference Baseball Championship Tournament in Enid, Okla., Monday afternoon.

After losing the first championship game 4-3, the Muleriders forced OBU into extra innings for the second championship game after Trevor Rogers scored in the bottom of the ninth inning on a Jason Dahl double to right field to tie the game 3-3.

Both teams would go scoreless in the tenth inning, and the lineup had worked its way back around to Dahl in the bottom of the eleventh when, on a 1-0 pitch, he sent a towering shot over the right-centerfield wall to win the game and the tournament for the Muleriders.

The Muleriders must now wait until Wednesday for the NCAA regional poll to be released to see if they will qualify for futher postseason play.
