SAU one win away from championship title

Southern Arkansas University used an eight-run eighth inning to fight off Southeastern Oklahoma State University 15-11 Sunday afternoon at the Great American Conference Baseball Championship Tournament in Enid, Okla.

The inning gave the Muleriders their first lead of the game and was highlighted by a two-run home run by GAC Freshman of the Year Ryan Dardenne.

Pitchers for SEOSU had control problems throughout the game, hitting seven SAU batters. Rafael Thomas, the second batter of the game, was hit by a pitch on the wrist and would leave the game the following inning.

The Muleriders are now the only undefeated team in the tournament. They will play in the championship game tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. against either Ouachita Baptist University, Arkansas Tech University, or Southeastern Oklahoma State University, depending on the outcome of two games being played this evening. Should SAU lose, they would play in a second championship game at 3:30 p.m.
