Former Gov. Mike Huckabee is throwing his enthusiastic support to Republican congressional candidate Beth Anne Rankin, reports the AP. Huckabee addressed about 150 people Wednesday at a Rankin fundraiser in Hot Springs, saying her seven years of work in his administration qualifies her to serve the 4th district. Rankin credited Huckabee with giving her the opportunity to learn about state government and how the state works with elected representatives in Washington.
Rankin worked in the governor’s office for seven years while Huckabee was governor. She was a liaison to Capitol Hill, the White House, the National Governors Association and federal agencies. Rankin is vying for the seat being vacated by Democrat Mike Ross, who has decided not to seek re-election. Three other Republicans and two Democrats also are seeking the post.
