Shreveport, La., inmates mistakenly released, returned to jail

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office says four inmates who were released by mistake have returned to the parish jail. A fifth had been found earlier, the AP reports.

All five were arraigned last week in federal court after the U.S. Attorney’s Office took over their case. On Wednesday, a district court judge dismissed all state charges against them, and the Caddo Correctional Center was notified of the dismissal.  Jail staff received this information and released the defendants Wednesday evening.

Sheriff Steve Prator says two men and two women turned themselves in about 2 a.m. Friday at the Caddo Correctional Center. A third man had been found at his home Wednesday night. They were among 13 people arrested Nov. 15 on state drug charges.
