A note from Magnolia Mayor Parnell Vann:On Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, the Animal Control Committee and I met to discuss strengthening an ordinance on vicious dogs and entering a new ordinance declaring a dog a nuisance. The ordinances were discussed and revisions were made and sent to the Animal Control Committee as well as the City Attorney and will be shown to other city council members at this month’s meeting.I’m trying to put the citizens on notice that we have certain ordinances and they must be followed. If you are following said ordinances, then this does not pertain to you, but if you are not, I strongly encourage you to comply. Thanks so much -Mayor Parnell Vann• Note: The Magnolia City Council meets at 5 p.m., Mon., Sept. 26, at City Council Chambers. The meetings are open to the public. If you wish to speak at a city council meeting, you must contact City Hall in advance to be added to the agenda.

What are you going to do with the pits that have owners who font have a yard big enough for a pen? Send them to ccaps to be put down? That should allow charges for animal cruelty for killing an animal that had a home owner and food. Or what about the ones that are house trained and stay indoors and just go outside to use the bathroom? Or the owners who have never had any problem from their pit? What do I tell my child that the dog who has slept by her bed since birth has to be sent away? How do I explain that to my toddler and her nephew? What about other breeds that are just as vicious or owners who train all their dogs that way? Why not take the pits from the people who abuse them fight them and train them to fight? Also the loud music… I hear it up and down my street all hours of the night and I live close to the PD. What about the train horns on cars I hear going off all hours of the nights? How about one issue at a time!? I’m tired of calling to complain about the loud music waking my child up the horns pipes and speeding and nothing being done.
