Caddo Parish is getting ready to host the Bassmaster Classic next February, reports the AP. On Thursday, Caddo Parish board of commissioners passed an ordinance to fund the major bass fishing tournament. The Times reports that the board appropriated $45,000 for the event.
The money is to be paid to the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau and administered by Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission, a division of the tourist bureau. Entities on each side of the Red River, including the cities of Shreveport and Bossier City, supply capital to promote, market and coordinate the event.
The three-day tournament is projected to bring in $24 million for the area.
