Central Arkansas Development Council is accepting applications for regular and crisis Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) in Columbia County. Payments will only be made for electric bills.
To qualify for Crisis LIHEAP, persons must have a disconnect notice with a disconnect date within 7 days of application date. Applications for regular assistance are also accepted.
All households receiving food stamps are potentially eligible to receive this assistance; however, the program is not limited to food stamp recipients. Eligible households must meet income guidelines and furnish proof of all household income for the month prior to applying.
LIHEAP applications are accepted on a first come, first serve walk-in Monday thru Wednesday from 8 a.m. to Noon at the CADC Magnolia Office, 1503 N. Vine St. Call 870-234-6444. Applicants for assistance must meet income guidelines. For a household of 1, monthly countable income is $1,471. For each additional person in the household, add $453. Countable income includes check stubs, child support, unemployment, housing utility assistance, SSI, SSA, TEA, VAS and retirement benefits.
To apply for assistance, the household should bring a copy of the current utility bill, social security numbers, and proof-of- income and date of birth for all household members. Clients must have a working knowledge of household resources. Additional information may be required during the interview process. Failure to provide verification requested may result in delay or denial of assistance. Allow agency 35 days to make payment.
