The fireworks display scheduled for 9 p.m. tonight at the Emerson Purple Hull Pea Festival will proceed as planned, Fire Chief Dewayne Waller said this afternoon.
Despite Columbia County being under a burn ban, County Judge Larry Atkinson left the decision as to whether to cancel the fireworks display up to Emerson’s fire chief. Waller said the fire department will be on hand for the fireworks display, as they are every year.
