The PurpleHull Pea Festival Kids Fishing Derby is Saturday (June 18). The derby take place at Mullins’ Pond on Highway 79 on the north side of Emerson. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning, and fishing begins at 8:00 a.m. There are prizes for different age divisions. Application forms are available at Emerson Food Mart and will also be available at the pond Saturday morning. For more information phone Jessica Samples at 547-3616. The derby is sponsored by Wal-Mart and Steve’s Outdoor Sports.
