The exhumation

In November 1979, private investigator William “Bill” C. Dear, of Dallas, Texas, exhumed the grave of a Lafayette County man after receiving information that Bobo Shinn had been buried in that grave. (The man whose grave was exhumed passed away prior to Bobo’s disappearance.) The exhumation led to a $2M lawsuit (later reduced to $1M after one of the plaintiffs was killed in a car accident). Those details and more are in today’s edition of the Banner-News, but here, we have posted some of the photos of the exhumation for our readers. We shot these photos, and as you can see, they are actually photos of photos . . . the originals are in Dear’s private case file.

Above, you can see Dear kneeling at the edge of the grave.

Above, one of the men who helped exhume the grave peers into it.
