Arkansas Forestry Commission investigators say arson was the cause of a wildfire that burned 736 acres near Dennard in Van Buren County, reports the Associated Press. Commission spokeswoman Christina Fowler said she can’t release details of how investigators determined the fire was the result of an arsonist or how the fire started. She says a white Toyota pickup truck seen in the area about the time the fire started is being sought.
Fowler says the fire resulted in no injuries but did destroy one home that was being renovated and several vehicles. The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case and the Arkansas Forestry Association is offering an additional reward of up to $1,000.
