Petit Jean to close Arkadelphia plant

Bad new for our neighbors in Clark County: Petit Jean Poultry plans to close its Arkadelphia plant, leaving 385 employees jobless. The closure is reportedly due to Tyson’s decision not to renew its deboning contract with the plant.

The announcement comes fast on the heels of Tyson’s news that it plans to expand its Hope plant, adding 250 jobs to that city’s tally. The company is still working to fill about 180 of those new jobs, according to company spokesmen.
