Immigration tuition bill tabled by Arkansas panel

A committee of the state House of Representatives has tabled a bill that would require Arkansas college students to be U.S. citizens or legal residents in order to be eligible for in-state tuition rates, reports the Associated Press.

Several members of the House Education Committee say they need more information before they can make a decision about the bill proposed by Republican Rep. Justin Harris of West Fork.

Opponents of the bill include Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families and the American Civil Liberties Union of Arkansas.
