Former Jonesboro legislator Chris Thyer has been sworn in as the new U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, reports the Associated Press. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that Chief U.S. District Judge Leon Holmes conducted the private ceremony on Friday.
President Barack Obama nominated Thyer on Dec. 1 and the U.S. Senate confirmed him for the post on Dec. 22. He will succeed Jane Duke as the district’s top prosecutor.
Most recently, Thyer has worked as a partner in a Jonesboro law firm.
The formal swearing-in ceremony for Thyer has not yet been scheduled.
