If you haven’t been outdoors in the last couple of hours, you might want to put on a light jacket before heading out again. The temperature has dropped to 64, according to our outdoor thermometer – down 7 degrees from when we checked it a little while ago – and the wind has picked up in a BIG way!
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, La., our area may be in for a few more showers and thunderstorms before midnight – the chance of precipitation is 60 percent, with wind gusts as high as 25 miles per hour. The low tonight is expected to be around 36.
And with the possibility of storms on the horizon, we urge you exercise caution tonight as you’re out celebrating the start of the new year. Remember, too, that local law enforcement agencies may have a few sobriety checkpoints on their agendas later tonight, so if you drink, please don’t drive . . . we’d hate to have to publish your name in the police files on Monday! Bottom line: Have fun, but be safe, and be smart!
