Beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, the Arkansas State Board of Health is requiring that every student entering the seventh grade receive a Tdap vaccine. This mandatory vaccination protects against tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis (whooping cough).Magnolia School District students entering the seventh grade in the upcoming fall semester must receive the Tdap vaccine prior to August 19, 2010, to meet enrollment requirements. Vaccinations may be obtained at the Columbia County Health Unit during their regularly scheduled clinic hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The vaccine may also be administered by the student’s primary care physician.Parents of current seventh grade students are asked to bring an updated immunization record to the Magnolia Junior High School office upon receipt of the vaccination. For more information, contact the school at 234-2206.
