McDaniel files brief defending adoption ban

The Associated Press reports that Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel filed today a court brief asking the state Supreme Court to overturn Pulaski County Circuit Court Judge Chris Piazza’s ruling that overturned Initiated Act I, which bans unmarried couples (and homosexuals) from fostering or adopting children in Arkansas. The AG’s office says that the right to foster or adopt a child is not a constitutionally guaranteed right, reports the AP.

Oral arguments in the case may be heard as early as this fall.
