Pryor to visit Gulf Coast, probe oil spill

WASHINGTON D.C. – Senators Mark Pryor (D-AR) and John Ensign (R-NV) will travel to the Gulf Coast Friday to discuss response efforts to the BP oil disaster. As Chairman and Ranking Member of the Homeland Security’s Subcommittee on State, Local, and Private Sector Preparedness and Integration, they are particularly interested in coordination among the private sector and all levels of government.

Pryor and Ensign will tour damage to wetland habitat at the Pass-a-Loutre Wildlife Management Area in New Iberia, LA; discuss planning and coordination with state and local officials during a boat tour around Grand Isle, LA; and fly over Barataria Bay, LA and Grand Isle, LA to view damage caused by the oil spill. They will also discuss clean-up efforts that are underway and how to better assist affected businesses.
